One of my favorite things about using a VPS is that you can store multiple websites on one VPS server. Our Bluehost VPS currently hosts five websites – including ‘staging sites’ that we use for testing, as well as sites like Marketing Automation Insider, and Qosy. Having the one account makes it easier for us to manage lots of websites, without having individual hosting accounts for each of our websites.

Once we accessed our accounts, we tested the dashboard of each service. The standard interface is called the cPanel, while some services, like iPage, use their own control panel, which allows for more customization. We evaluated which tools are available in the basic shared hosting plans, taking into account features like simple email creation, a disk-usage meter and access to create cron jobs. Many services in our lineup have the option to back up a site manually or utilize a one-click install section.

WP Engine’s plans are more expensive that your standard shared plans, so are typically used by larger, more established sites and businesses with more budget. We use WP Engine to host this site because we are happy to pay the extra cost to rest easy knowing our site is in really good hands at all times.

Web hosting servers can be attacked by malicious users in different ways, including uploading malware or malicious code onto a hosted website. These attacks may be done for different reasons, including stealing credit card data, launching a Distributed Denial of Service Attack (DDoS) or spamming.[14]

If your site is a huge success then you will ultimately want to get your own dedicated server (though for 98% of all business sites and blogs a shared server or VPS is more than enough). This means you’ll have your own physical server hosted in the providers location, dedicated to just you. There are of course many levels of server you can from smaller cheaper servers right up to very powerful servers with a huge amount of processing power. The important difference from shared and VPS type offerings is that you will have complete control over your WordPress hosting environment. If you get to this level you probably have your own system administration resource, though most dedicated server providers can also provide a managed solution (which of course costs more).

As the resident hamburger expert on the HostingAdvice team, I often find myself thinking of hosting-related topics in terms of my favorite food — especially when it comes to price and quality. In my view, a good burger should offer simplicity, with all of the parts (pickles, onions, mustard — whatever you prefer) working toward the overall goal of the perfect bite. Then there’s price to consider. I’d rather pay $8 for the burger I just described than pay $25 for a beef patty, foie gras, and lobster all clumsily smashed together between the buns. I just don’t need all that stuff.

In the hosting game the biggest cost is people so that means less support. The few dollars you might save per year will not seem worthwhile the first time you have an outage and can’t reach anyone for days. Our advice is always to stick to reputable companies with a real track record and real support. No host is perfect, and from time to time you are going to need some support, so best to go with a WordPress host that you know will always be there when you need them. Your time and peace of mind is worth more than a few dollars a month. If you are on a budget there are some great options.

If you’re using a business credit card to place your order, the wait can be longer. We found that some companies needed additional information to verify our identity: discrepancies between your name and the card name can raise red flags for fraud. Usually, you’ll need to make a 10 minute phone call to the company’s billing department and provide a scan of a government-issued ID to straighten things out.

Reseller hosting options are a special type of hosting plan. Essentially, if you want to start a business and sell web hosting while someone else maintains the server, reseller hosting is the way to go. With a reseller plan, you buy access to server resources in bulk, and then resell it under your own brand.

Avoiding web hosting scams: There are web hosting service provider sites which offer huge to unlimited amounts of web space and bandwidth. Frankly, do not believe in inflated claims such as unlimited web space or unlimited bandwidth. Simply this is someth…
If you intend to be a global eCommerce site then I’d recommend you use a .com address, and for hosting I would look at WP Engine. It is more expensive than entry level shared hosting but imho it is worth it. WooCommerce will run great on WP Engine.
